Platbos, hidden in the Uilkraal Vallei between Gansbaai and Stanford is an ancient indigenous forest with trees of over 1000 years of age. Botanically unique, the forest is composed of both coastal and Afromontane forest tree types. Come and walk the gentle, shaded pathways, and discover for yourself this unique forest biome. Described as a “National Treasure” by Peter Slingsby – well known cartographer of all major hiking trails in Southern Africa – Platbos is a “must see” for all Overberg nature tourists.
There is an honesty box inside for you to place your walking fee (R50/Adult & R20/Child). For guests staying at the Forest Accommodation, please follow the sign boards directing you to your respective accommodation. Overnighting Platbos guests can walk the forest free of charge.
